2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 4x4

Family-Friendly Four-Wheel-Drive SUV

A three-quarter front view of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 4x4
In short: A roomy, well-equipped seven-passenger SUV.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 4x4 Review

Assembled at the same Tenessee plant as the Infiniti JX35, the all-new Nissan Pathfinder owes much of its design to that luxurious full-size SUV. Utilizing the same 3.5-liter V6 as its sibling, the Pathfinder offers decent power, while its even larger size makes trips to soccer practice or the lake a breeze for busy families. Intuitive four-wheel-drive allows drivers to switch between 4×4, 2WD and Auto modes depending on conditions. Our Platinum Premium level tester came tricked out with cool features like a DVD entertainment system with dual 7-inch headrest monitors, and rear headphone jacks with volume control.

With its smooth and refined V6, comfortable interior and available third-row seating, the Pathfinder aims square at the middle of the family hauler market. It’s billed as an adventure-mobile, with ads featuring the Pathfinder as Noah’s ark, helping a father and daughter round up animals in a muddy landscape.

For the more eco-conscious or economy-minded, a new hybrid version of the Pathfinder is available, to be powered by the same 2.5 liter supercharged four cylinder/ electric motor combination used in the Infiniti QX60 hybrid.
