In short: A quick and nimble entry roadster.

2014 Porsche Boxster Review

This swift two-seater has been a top choice for joyrides since the roadster came charging onto roadways a decade ago. Nimble, responsive and boasting 265 horsepower.

Our bright tester came in exclusive racing yellow with optional ($340) matching racing yellow seat belts. Interior is pleasant and comfortable with seat ventilation and the full power convertible top is no-nonsense. The optional BOSE surround sound system is perfect to counter higher speeds’ wind noise. Of course, the centerpiece of this agile, race-inspired vehicle is the mid-mounted boxer engine; physics dictate that it is the best place in a car. Tacked on to the VarioCam motor is a 6-speed manual transmission with dual mass flywheel and hill assist control. Yes, you get collapsible cupholders and all sorts of other creature comforts and convenience: Bluetooth, halogen headlights with coming home feature, remote entry alarm with interior surveillance, multifunction trip computer and more.

The base Porsche Boxster model offers plenty of top-down fun, all while earning an impressive 30 mpg highway. Whether for a quick trip to the supermarket, a daily drive to the office or a romantic drive on back country roads, this fun-to-drive, mid-engine ride will keep a smile on your face.
