2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek 2.0i Limited Review

Built on the same platform as the Impreza, the all-new Subaru XV Crosstrek offers the versatility of an SUV in a small, city-friendly package. Fitted with Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive and a punchy, 148-horsepower boxer 4-cylinder, this compact crossover is as comfortable on mountain roads as it is on urban streets.

Our tangerine orange pearl with black leather interior Subaru XV Crosstrek crossover vehicle came with a moonroof and [clumsy] navigation system, an option priced at $2,000. This all-new model with two row seating has a high ride due to it’s raised suspension with 8.7 inches of ground clearance. The Subaru Lineartronic CVT is a strong asset for this all-purpose, all-terrain car. It manages the power split based on acceleration, deceleration and available traction. Power is distributed to the wheels for best grip result; a nice safety feature.

The proven and well-liked boxer engine won’t make this little ute ready for the Dakar off-road race, but what you save on power will convert on much appreciated MPG. Bravo Subaru!
